Da Vinci SP Robotic Surgical System
Da Vinci SP surgical system (Intuitive Surgical)
This state-of-the-art single-port robotic platform features four robotic arms, each less than 5 mm in diameter, operating through a small 2.5 cm port. It enables faster postoperative recovery and leaves minimal scarring.
For thyroid surgery, our medical team successfully performed the world’s first “Single-Port Transareolar Robotic Thyroidectomy (SPRA)”, and Ain Hospital remains the only institution worldwide capable of both SPRA thyroid surgery and SPRA lateral neck dissection.
Da Vinci Xi Robotic Surgical System
Da Vinci Xi Surgical system (Intuitive Surgical)
This multi-port robotic system provides precise access to complex anatomical areas with high-resolution 3D imaging and advanced articulating instruments. It is primarily used for complex procedures that are not suitable for single-port surgery. Our surgical team has performed over 1,000 cases of Xi BABA (Bilateral Axillo-Breast Approach) robotic thyroid surgery, offering safe and precise surgical outcomes.
High-Resolution Ultrasound System
LOGIQ (General Electric)
This advanced high-resolution ultrasound equipment allows for precise visualization of the thyroid and cervical structures. All of our surgical staff personally perform ultrasound examinations, enabling more accurate diagnosis and patient counseling. (In contrast, in most university hospitals, thyroid ultrasounds are performed exclusively by the radiology department.)
Intraoperative Nerve Monitoring (IONM) System
NIM Vital (Medtronic)
This system monitors the function of the recurrent laryngeal nerve in real-time during thyroid surgery to prevent nerve injury. Our center is the only hospital-grade facility in Incheon equipped with the latest version of this technology.
Parathyroid Autofluorescence Imaging System
FLUOBEAM-LX (Getinge)
This advanced device detects the natural autofluorescence emitted by the parathyroid glands—structures that must be preserved during thyroid surgery—allowing surgeons to clearly identify parathyroid tissue that is often difficult to distinguish with the naked eye.
This technology helps prevent postoperative hypocalcemia, thereby improving the patient's quality of life. (It is one of only two devices available in Korea and was the first to be introduced in the Incheon region, including university hospitals.)
Thyroid Radiofrequency Ablation (RFA) System
Afro Korea AK-150
This minimally invasive device removes benign thyroid nodules (2~4 cm) using radiofrequency energy without the need for surgery. It does not require general anesthesia, causes minimal discomfort, and allows for rapid recovery.
